“My name is, Steele,” a juvenile raptor told Lou when she lost William’s scent by the river. “Because I’m built for strength and speed.”
Steele was bored from waiting for his parents so long, and asked Lou to wait with him a little longer.
“My parents should be back soon with food,” Steele begged. “Will you stay for dinner?”
“But raptors eat little animals like me,” Lou pushed her whiskers toward him with some concern.
“Oh, they won’t do that,” Steele promised, but then his expression showed otherwise.
“Well, I’ll tell them you’re my friend,” Steele came back, “and then, they will let you.”
“Thank you, but I’ve already traveled too far and can’t stop now,” Lou told him. “I have to keep going and find my friend.”
(Part of the Cats by the Tracks series and a spin-off of Jaime's, 'WHERE'S WILLIAM' novel as told though Lou's eyes instead.)
